What is a total?

A total (over/under) is a bet on the combined score of both teams relative to a posted number — say 47.5. Over wins if the teams combine for 48 or more; under wins at 47 or fewer. Which team wins is irrelevant.

Worked example

At -108, a $100.00 stake on the over returns $192.59 in total — $92.59 of profit — restating a 51.9% implied probability from the venue's own quote.

How a prediction market handles it

A sportsbook quotes over and under separately, with its margin spread across the pair.

Most prediction markets in our coverage don't offer a direct total equivalent for a single game — event contracts typically cover the game outcome and select futures, not combined-score lines.
