What is a futures bet?

A futures bet settles on a season-long outcome — a team to win its conference, a player to lead the league in a stat — rather than a single game. Your stake is committed until the outcome resolves, which can be months.

Worked example

At +420, a $100.00 stake returns $520.00 in total — $420.00 of profit — restating a 19.2% implied probability from that venue's quote.

The same outcome as a 19¢ event contract: $100.00 buys contracts worth $526.32 at settlement before any declared exchange fee (19.0% implied).

How a prediction market handles it

Futures are one of the few markets where sportsbooks and prediction markets routinely overlap: exchanges list futures-style questions as contracts, priced in cents, and you can sell a contract position back before resolution rather than waiting for settlement.
