Privacy policy

The short version

Odds & Markets has no user accounts, no login and no profiles. We do not ask for your name, and nothing you do here is tied to an identity we hold. The state kept about your visit lives in your own browser, and the one thing we record server-side — outbound clicks to venues — contains no personal information.

Data kept in your browser only

• Your last confirmed selection, so a refresh doesn't lose it (per tab).
• An optional “my usual book” tag, stored in localStorage and never sent to any server-side profile.
• Theme preference (light/dark) and odds-format preference.
• Your selected state/jurisdiction, used to filter venue availability.
• An age-gate acknowledgement cookie, so the gate doesn't reappear every visit.

Clearing your browser storage removes all of it. None of this is required reading for us — it exists so the site works, not so we can identify you.

Click events

When you follow a “Go to [venue]” link, we write one record before redirecting you. Its complete field list:

• occurred_at — timestamp of the click.
• venue_id — which venue the link points to.
• network — the affiliate link mechanism used.
• tracker — a placement string (for example, which page the click came from).
• click_id — an internal identifier built from a timestamp and a salted, non-reversible hash; it is never sent to any affiliate network and cannot be reversed into anything about you.
• context_route — the on-site placement the click originated from.

No name, email, phone number, account identifier or precise location appears in a click event. See the affiliate disclosure for why these records exist.

Third-party processors

A small number of infrastructure providers process data on our behalf:

• Odds and prediction-market data vendors — supply the prices we display; they receive no visitor data from us.
• Sanity — hosts our editorial content.
• Sentry — error monitoring; may receive technical request metadata when something breaks.
• Upstash — rate limiting; sees request counts, not identities.
• Privacy-respecting page analytics — aggregate page-view counts, no cross-site tracking.

When you continue to a venue, that venue's own privacy policy governs from the moment you arrive there — including any referral identifier its affiliate network reads from the link.

Your rights and contact

Because we hold no account data about you, most access or deletion requests have nothing to act on — but you can always ask. Contact privacy@oddsandmarkets.com with any privacy question, including requests under your state's privacy law.
